Living On A Sailboat In The Bahamas
Living on a sailboat in the Bahamas part time and the United States the rest of the time has been a wonderful life and one I hope to continue for a long time. I started living aboard ten years ago when I met the man who is now my husband in North Carolina. We have lived aboard our Bayfield 32C in North Carolina, Florida, the Bahamas, and all over the Eastern Caribbean. There is nothing like it in the world. We have the best waterfront views, share an intimate closeness with local wildlife, and get rocked to sleep each night by the sea. There are other benefits as well, like learning to live unencumbered by "stuff." We have a fairly small sailboat, so we have to be very conscious of what we purchase because it must not only find a place on board, it should also serve a purpose, or better yet, many purposes! It took me two years before I finally got rid of all my high heeled shoes. I finally figured out since I only wore high heels once or twice a year when visiting my family in Louisiana for special occasions and holidays, it made more sense just to stash a pair at my sister's house. You become very practical when your home is the size of some people's walk in closets! But don't forget, our backyard is always a million dollar view.
