Learn What You Need To Know About Bahamas Passport Information

Having the proper Bahamas Passport information is an important part of your well planned trip to the Bahamas. You can save yourself a lot of headaches and time by reading the information presented to you here.

When we arrive in the Bahamas, we always have our passports ready for the immigration officer to review and stamp. If you are flying into the Bahamas, you will also have to show that you have an onward or return plane ticket.

Let's review, for your Bahamas vacation you will need a passport that is valid for at least six months and an onward or return plane ticket out of the country. Passports are now required for all visitors, including those from the USA and Canada.

A stay of up to six months, which may be extended to eight months, may be granted. Different immigration officers, in different ports, give varying of amounts of time allowed, when you clear in. They usually ask how long you are staying.

When we sail into the Bahamas, we are required to check in at the nearest immigration office. We have to show our passports and ship's documents to receive a cruising permit. We also have to sign a document stating we will clear out of the Bahamas when our cruising permit expires.

It's really not much of a hassle at all, and isn't it worth it?

Personally, we've never had any issues regarding passports, although we know people who have accidentally come into the Bahamas with an expired passport and had to correct the situation after they arrived, now that was a hassle! Make sure your passport is up to date and will not be expiring during your stay in the Bahamas.

If there is anything else you need to know about passport requirements, feel free to contact the Bahamas government site through the link above.
