We have seen rental car prices in the Bahamas as high as $85 per day, (Abaco), and as low as $35 per day, (Freeport).

I have listed some important tips for driving in the Bahamas below. You're not in Kansas anymore! Driving in the islands is little bit different than what most of us are used to. Most of all, just remember to take it easy. Stress is simply not allowed in the Bahamas!

Bahamas Driving Tips

It is a good idea to reserve a car ahead of time because supplies are often limited.

Ask the car rental company to have your car waiting at the airport in order to avoid unnecessary taxi fees.

In the Bahamas, you drive on the LEFT SIDE of the road.

Also, be diligent when driving. In Nassau, watch out for cars entering your lane without hesitation, no matter how close you are to them.

Please watch out for pedestrians. Hitchhiking is very common in the out islands especially. We've done plenty of island hitchhiking ourselves and we always meet very nice locals that way.
