How I Ended Up Living The Dream In The Bahamas...

My name is Jeannette. My husband, Brian, and I have been living and cruising the islands aboard our yacht, Puff, for almost ten years now. Puff is a Bayfield 32C, and you can learn more about our cruising adventures here.

We both grew up sailing with our families, and loving it. I fell in love with island life during childhood summer vacations to Chincoteague Island, Virginia. I have lived on various US East Coast islands for over fifteen years, but it was Brian who introduced me to the tropics.

After sailing the US South East Coast, the Eastern Caribbean (from the US Virgin Islands to the Grenadines), and the Bahamas Islands extensively, we decided to purchase some land on our most favorite island of all... Long Island, Bahamas.

We are currently building a home there, while continuing to live aboard Puff. We began traveling on our boat in our early twenties. We would work seasonal jobs in the summer and save every cent we made, then sail away to the islands in the winter. It was the perfect life. We thrived on the endless summer weather, the simplicity, and the self sufficiency of our chosen lifestyle.

As the years went by, we began to want more. We wanted a land-based home, a family, and of course to keep the boat and our traveling lifestyle.

We had the time... we just needed the money! We were spending six months of the year in paradise, but we always had to return to the dreaded J-O-B sooner or later to replenish our savings. We were living the good life, but we were also just getting by. I brainstormed different ways to create income, and I even built a website... but I lacked the knowledge to turn a profit with it. I was researching that path when I found SBI.

Money is not the key to happiness, but it certainly helps expand our options. Freedom to choose where you want to live and what you want to do each day is a priceless gift. I found a way to make that happen for us and I'm happy to have the opportunity to share it with you here.

All you need is the desire for more time and money in your life. If you have that, then you have what it takes to make it happen. You don't need any special skills or talent, but you do need the right tools.
